New Maruti Ertiga gets Black colour for the alloy wheels, no mechanical changes have been made

Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has been enjoying a great deal of success with the Ertiga and its second generation was launched only in November 2018. The last gen Ertiga was in the business for more than 6 years and it was on a league of its own in terms of sales numbers.

The all-new model has coped up with the expectations and has been racking up good sales volume. Maruti began 2019 with the launch of the new generation WagonR and it was followed by the mid-cycle update of the top-selling Baleno hatchback.

The MY19 Ertiga has now been spotted at a dealership yard and the picture shows the only change that has been made. It comes with new alloywheel colour as the silver is opted out for black shade with no change in design.

We are expecting cruise control system to be added to the lineup as well but that could take some time to happen. No powertrain changes are on the cards as the 2019 Maruti Suzuki Ertiga continues to use the new 1.5-litre K15B four-cylinder petrol engine which is good enough to generate a maximum power output of 104.7 PS at 6,000 rpm and 138 Nm of peak torque delivered at 4,000 rpm.

The same unit with SHVS technology can also be found in the facelifted Ciaz. It is mated to either a five-speed manual or a four-speed torque converter automatic transmission. The 1.3-litre DDiS 200 diesel is another power source connected to a five-speed manual gearbox only.

Maruti Suzuki is reportedly working on a Cross variant of the Ertiga and it could carry a different suffix. With middle row captain seats, a more upmarket interior and sportier exterior body kit, it will likely be sold only through Nexa premium dealerships as a six-seater MPV to rival mainly against Mahindra Marazzo.
