Elon Musk wants to put a Red Tesla Roadster into a giant SpaceX rocket and send it to Mars orbit
Tesla boss Elon Musk wants to send the recently unveiled Roadster to Mars and he is dead serious about this. The American visionary wants to send a Red Tesla Roadster into a giant SpaceX rocket and when the car will go through space it will repeatedly play a song called Space Oddity hat was sung by David Bowie.
Interestingly, Elon Musk is known for announcing his business decisions in uniquely cryptic messages on Twitter and this too followed the same trend. SpaceX reveals this interesting launch plan is scheduled in January 2018 and the cherry red painted Tesla Roadster that will be sent to mars is owned by Elon Musk himself. Also, this launch will take place from the same Florida launch pad that sent the Apollo astronauts to the moon.

Interestingly, Tesla boss has also coined an unique tagline for this event that is – ‘Red car for a Red planet’. Presently, Elon Musk owned SpaceX flies its Falcon 9 rocket for various customers that include NASA, commercial satellite operators and the US military as well. The Tesla Roadster will be carried by Falcon Heavy that is much more powerful compared to the Falcon 9.
While the current Falcon 9 is powered by 9 Merlin engines, the Falcon Heavy has 27 engines. In its attempt to carry the Tesla Roadster, all the 27 engines of this rocket will be fired at once. After its maiden run, this new rocket will start ferrying commercial satellite and US military satellites as well.

Speaking about the Tesla Roadster, the car was unveiled at the same event, where Tesla uncovered its much awaited Semi Truck. The Roadster carries a bespoke design language and it can run at a very impressive top speed of 400 kmph. Not only that, Tesla claims that this car comes with around 1,000 kilometre running range on a single charge.
As the American electric vehicle manufacturer claims, the Roadster is capable of accelerating to 96 kmph from standstill position in just 1.9 seconds. However, this amazing sportscar is very unlikely to be available for the customers before 2020.
