The dual-tone Tata Harrier, which was launched recently, has started reaching dealerships and looks more stylish than the regular version
Earlier this month, it emerged that Tata Motors has silently released a dual-tone version of the Tata Harrier at a starting price of Rs 16.76 lakh*. Now, thanks to a pic we’ve got our hands on, it looks like the new colour version of the mid-size SUV has started reaching the dealerships.
The dual-tone version of the Tata Harrier costs roughly Rs 20,000 more than the single-colour option. Compared to the MG Hector, the new model is Rs 12,000 chopper than the former’s range-topping version. To this effect, the launch of the dual-tone Tata Harrier seems to be a move to steal some limelight away from the recently launched MG Hector.
The dual-tone paint scheme is available in two options – black roof with Orcus White and black roof with Calisto Copper. As seen in our image, the Harrier looks dapper in the white-black combo, which enhances the modern design of the vehicle.
The Tata Harrier is the company’s first offering based on the highly publicized OMEGA architecture. The new platform is derived from Land Rover’s L550 architecture, which underpins the much pricier Land Rover Discovery Sport. The Indian company has replaced some of the aluminium components of the platform with high tensile steel parts to keep the costs from escalating.
Powering the Tata Harrier the Fiat-sourced 2.0-litre Multijet II diesel engine that is being marketed as Kroytec motor. The engine offers a maximum power of 140 PS and a peak torque of 350 Nm. It comes mated to a six-speed manual transmission.
Later this year, the company will launch the Tata Buzzard, which is the 7-seater version of the Tata Harrier. It will come with Kryotec170 motor that will be the current engine’s 170 PS version that complies with BS6 norms. The same engine is slated to be introduced in the Harrier. The company is also planning to introduce a Hyundai-sourced 6-speed automatic transmission and AWD to the Harrier.
