Surat-based billionaire diamond merchant has given 600 Maruti Suzuki Celerio and Renault Kwid to his delighted employees as Diwali gift

Diwali is the festival of lights and it symbolises the spiritual victory of light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance. Most of the companies give special gifts and bonus as part of the Diwali for its employees to make them happy. Some of the enthusiasts might remember Savji Dholakia a Surat-based billionaire diamond merchant.

He owns Hare Krishna Exports which is one of the biggest diamond exporting companies in India. According to Savji Dholakia, employees are the real asset of a company and it is the duty of the company to reward them for the hard work, commitment and loyalty. Over the years, he has already given houses, flats and cars as part of Diwali gifts.

For this Diwali, he is giving 600 Maruti Suzuki Celerio and Renault Kwid for his employees under the loyalty program. The cars were given to employees in a big event held in Gujarat and it was named ‘Skill India Incentive Ceremony’, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also attended the event via video conference and he handed over four cars to the employees in Delhi.

This year the cars were gifted to around 1700 diamond artists and engineers. The company has around 5,500 employees and 4000 of them have already received special gifts from the company as part of Diwali celebration. He started his tradition of giving expensive gifts from 2015, but he didn’t give gifts last year.

The company has also given Mercedes Benz GLS SUVs for employees who had completed 25 years. For employees, who don’t want cars can also opt for Fixed Deposits. Till now Savji hasn’t faced any tax issues for giving out these expensive gifts, which confirms that whatever he is doing is legal. The Diamond billionaire started the business by taking a small loan from his uncle.

The Celerio is powered by 1.0 L petrol engine producing 67 bhp of power and 90 Nm of torque. This engine is mated to a 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox. On the other hand, the Kwid is available with two engine options – 800 cc engine delivers 53 bhp and 72 Nm and the 1.0 L unit produces 67 bhp and 91 Nm. The manual gearbox is standard and AMT is available only with 1.0 L engine.
