Datsun says it is the fastest growing car brand in India in FY16; aims to introduce new technologies in future cars
Nissan owned budget car brand Datsun is growing slowly in the highly competitive Indian market. During the launch event of the automaker’s latest model RediGo 1.0L, it has claimed to be the fastest growing car brand in FY16. The brand has sold more than 90,000 cars here in last three years and it is quite a remarkable feat.
With this growing success story, Datsun hopes to fetch more sales with the newly introduced RediGo 1.0L that has been launched at Rs. 3.57 lakh (ex-showroom, Pan India). To boost the appeal of its models, Datsun is planning to introduce more stylish design and new technology equipped cars. The brand hopes to sell around 1.25 lakh units of cars annually in the domestic market by the end of this decade.
Apart from that, Datsun is also aiming to expand its dealership network. Currently, Nissan and Datsun have 275 retail outlets in 172 cities across the country. The automaker is now gearing up to launch the Go Cross that will lock horns with rivals like the Ford EcoSport and Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza.
In order to make the Go Cross attractive to the buyers, Datsun is not only relying on an aggressive and stylish design. The Go Cross will also carry several upmarket features in an attempt to lure the buyers. As the concept model was displayed at 2016 New Delhi Auto Expo, it will carry a large hexagonal front grille with chrome garnishing and bold mesh design. There will be sharp headlamps with projector units and integrated LED daytime running lights.
The overall exterior of the upcoming Datsun Go Cross will sport masculine stance and contemporary styling. Inside the cabin, expect it to offer ample space and comfort to the occupants along with features like touchscreen infotainment system, upmarket quality seat and upholstery, stylish and informative instrument cluster etc. Also, expect Datsun to price the Go Cross very aggressively against its rivals.
