Launch of electric trucks in India by Daimler AG depends on infrastructural support, local partnership and support from authorities

Daimler AG owned truck manufacturer BharatBenz has completed its five years in Indian market and the company has received pretty good response with its range of trucks here. Now, the German auto manufacturer is aiming to roll out electric truck in the domestic market targeting the Mission EV 2030, under which Indian government wants to introduce pure electric mobility across the country by 2030.

Daimler AG has just launched an electric Fuso e truck in US. If things go well, we can expect it to arrive in India too. Considering the Mission EV 2030, the Daimler electric truck can play significant role in the growth of the company here. However, the brand clears that to launch its electric here it needs good infrastructural support.

Apart from the good infrastructure Daimler AG also wants local partnership from Indian companies and support from local authorities as well. As the brand says, Indian government needs to show real cases of electric infrastructure for EVs instead of conceptual prototypes. Interestingly, Daimler is working to roll out its electric car fleet across the world and to achieve that goal the German company is working with several local companies in various countries around the globe.

In New York and London it has already started testing the electric trucks and the company wants to bring India in the map as well. It is also working on the range extension and supercharging technology as well. With the new supercharger in place, the battery packs of the electric trucks will be recharged in just five minutes.

While Daimler AG is interested about launching electric trucks in India, it is not that keen to roll out hybrid trucks. As the brand says that hybrid trucks will need huge investment like bio-diesel technology, but these are not capable of producing the expected result.
