In the compact SUV sales charts for the month of May 2023, Tata Nexon led the way ahead of Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Tata Punch and Hyundai Venue
In the month of May 2023, Tata Motors’ Nexon finished on top of the compact SUV sales charts with a domestic tally of 14,423 units as against 14,614 units during the same period last year with a YoY negative volume growth of 1 per cent. The Maruti Suzuki Brezza was the second most sold compact SUV last month in India.
The sub-four-metre SUV posted a total of 13,398 unit sales as against 10,312 units during the corresponding period twelve months ago with a YoY positive volume increase of 30 per cent. The arrival of the new generation Brezza last year has made a big impact. The Tata Punch micro SUV finished in the third position with a total of 11,124 units.
Compared to the same period in 2022 with 10,241 units, a YoY sales growth of 9 per cent was noted. The Hyundai Venue recorded a domestic tally of 10,213 units last month as against 8,300 units during the same period twelve months ago with a YoY sales surge of 23 per cent. The Maruti Suzuki Fronx finished in the fifth position.

The compact SUV coupe has been well-received since its launch a few months ago. In May 2023, the five-seater based on the Baleno registered a total of 9,863 units. In the second half of the table, Kia Sonet finished in the sixth position with a total of 8,251 units as against 7,899 units during the same period last year with a YoY growth of 4 per cent.
The Mahindra XUV300 finished in the seventh position with a total of 5,125 units against 5,022 units in May 2022 with a YoY growth of 2 per cent. The Nissan Magnite ended up eighth with a total of 2,618 units against 1,920 units with a YoY growth of 36 per cent. It finished ahead of its sibling, the Renault Kiger.
The compact SUV posted 1,713 unit sales last month as against 1,380 units in May 2022 with a YoY positive sales growth of 24 per cent.
