Citroen C3 Aircross will compete against Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and the likes and will be powered by a 1.2L turbo petrol engine

Citroen has released the first teaser image of the upcoming midsize SUV ahead of its world premiere on April 27, 2023. Dubbed the C3 Aircross, it will take on Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, MG Astor, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, and others in the highly competitive segment.

The teaser image shows the presence of a split headlamp cluster and LED Daytime Running Lights as seen in its compact hatchback sibling, the C3, confirming its influence as we previously mentioned. It will be more upscale than the C3 though as it will certainly be positioned well above it and will boast of the quirky design cues found in the global Citroen models.

The other exterior highlights will be smooth-flowing body lines, a clamshell bonnet structure, a wide front grille, front and rear skid plates, chromed window line, dual-tone colour schemes with contrast elements inside and out, wraparound LED tail lamps, front and rear skid plates, etc. The Citroen C3 Aircross will have an overall length of around 4.2-4.3 metres.

Judging by the spy shots, it won’t have the fancy coupe-ish roofline seen in modern SUVs. It will be rolled out of the French brand’s production facility in Tamil Nadu for India as well as some international markets. The cabin will apparently be larger than the C3 while the surface materials and finishes will likely be more upscale.

The equipment list will comprise new bits and pieces as well while the dashboard, centre console, touchscreen infotainment system and digital cluster will be different from the regular C3. The C3 Aircross could initially be offered only as a five-seater and a seven-seater could join the lineup later. It will be underpinned by the CMP platform as the C3.

As for the performance, the Citroen C3 Aircross will be equipped with a 1.2L turbocharged petrol engine developing a maximum power output of 110 hp and 190 Nm of peak torque. It will likely go on sale around this festive season in India.
