Citroen is expected to launch the C3 Aircross in the second half of this year and it will take on the likes of Hyundai Creta
Citroen entered the Indian market with the launch of the C5 Aircross in 2021 and it was followed by the market debut of the C3 compact hatchback last year. Up next, the French auto major will introduce the electrified version of the C3, which will directly take on the Tata Tiago EV. It is expected to have its prices start at around Rs. 10 lakh.
A few months ago, we showed you spy pictures of a new SUV bound for the local market and it looked bigger than the C3. It could be christened the C3 Aircross and has every chance to compete directly against Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, VW Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, MG Astor and the likes.
The company looks to be preparing to unleash as many as three new SUVs in India and one of them will be the C3 Aircross, which will give rise to the other two models. The trio will certainly help in expanding the brand’s domestic portfolio and appeal to customers in the trending midsize SUV segment. The latest test prototypes of the C3 Aircross appear to be in their near-production state.
Thus, we can expect the Citroen C3 Aircross to debut in the second half of this calendar year before reaching showrooms and it could spawn a seven-seater variant as well. The modular platform the C3 Aircross will sit on, could give rise to an all-electric midsize SUV that will more likely compete against Tata Nexon EV Max, Mahindra XUV400, MG ZS EV and BYD Atto 3.
The Citroen C3 Aircross will wear the quirky design elements the brand has been renowned for in Europe and it will be heavily influenced by the regular C3. It is expected to boast a more upmarket interior with the presence of a new dashboard and centre console, and a larger touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
As for the performance, a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine developing 110 hp will be utilised and we do expect a new and more powerful engine to be featured as well.
