Chevrolet Trailblazer Facelift gets aesthetic and interior changes with the engine line-up remaining the same

The facelifted Version of the Chevrolet Trailblazer premium SUV has been revealed at the ongoing 2016 Bangkok Motor Show. The Thai market carries more significance to the American company and that’s the reason why it’s been unveiled at the country’s biggest motoring exhibition.

Christened as Trailblazer Premier, the concept was an almost production-ready model destined to hit the foreign markets towards the end of this year. We revealed a month ago that General Motors has brought in the second lot of 150 Trailblazers into the market. It’s the successor to the obsolete Captiva when launched last October with a single variant known as 2WD LTZ at a price of Rs. 26.4 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Expect the facelifted model to arrive in India in the latter parts of next year. As this is a mere facelift, the premium SUV has undergone revisions to the exterior with the mechanical bits expected to be remained unaltered. As it’s based on the Colorado pick-up truck sold in America, the front fascia adapts a similar design.

For India, it extracts power from the bigger 2.8-litre, four-cylinder, Duramax diesel motor that makes out 197 bhp at 3600 rpm and 500 Nm of segment-leading peak torque developed from 2000 rpm. It comes hooked with a six-speed manual transmission driving the rear wheels with a claimed fuel economy of 11.45 kmpl. The torquey diesel engine may stay put when the facelift goes on sale locally.

The other power options available in the overseas markets are 2.5-litre Duramax diesel with 163 hp and 380 Nm and 3.6-litre V6 petrol engine with 277 hp and 357 Nm of torque. The possibilities of the latter petrol mill for India cannot be shrugged off either. On the outside, the facelifted Trailblazer Premier receives a sharper headlamp unit with LED Daytime Running Lights, newly designed bumpers up front and rear, wider upright grille, new tail lamp clusters, substantial chrome touches and new set of alloy wheels.

As for the interiors, the instrument panel has been updated alongside chrome garnish in several parts of the cabin and the dashboard gets a waterfall styled floating design with an updated Chevy’s eight-inch MyLink touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay connectivity. The Chevrolet Trailblazer measures about 4,878 mm in length, 1,902 mm in width, 1,834 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,870 mm with 253 mm ground clearance.
