Chevrolet Spin and Trailblazer will make the utility vehicles that will fortunes for GM in India
In a bit a surprise to most of us out there, Chevrolet decided to show off what they are plans are for India in general till the year 2020. The Chevrolet Trailblazer and Chevrolet Spin have been unveiled today in the presence of Marry Bara, GM’s global head. GM says there will be an all new platform carved from the next generation Beat for its upcoming car in India.
The upcoming platform will spawn, a notchback, a compact sedan and compact SUV for India, all which will see the daylight in the year 2017. All of this will come out from Talegaon plant in Maharashtra as the Gujarat facility is going to be shutdown. Current production of the plant is about 1.3 lakh unit it will be raised 2.2 lakh units with an investment of one billion dollars which will come step by step. All of this money will help add over 12,000 jobs and localization will be increased on all upcoming products.
Coming back to the TrailBlazer its likely to come with two engine options a 2.4 litre four-cylinder which makes 163 BHP and 380 Nm of torque and will be RWD SUV and power will go through a 6-speed manual and automatic gearbox. A 2.8 ltire four-cylinder engine that makes 200 BHP and 500 Nm of torque will be mated to an all wheel drive system and will come with an automatic system.
The Chevrolet spin on the other hand will come with a 1.3 Multijet engine and the 1.4 petrol engine that is seen on the enjoy. The diesel will make around 90 PS of power and power will go to the front wheel with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
