Chevrolet Cruze Facelift gets updated exterior and interior without compromising on the sporty theme compared to the outgoing model

Chevrolet Cruze was one of the best selling models for the company in India. But with the exit of the brand from local sales, we didn’t get the highly anticipated next generation model. The American manufacturer introduced new generation of Cruze globally in 2016 and the company has just unveiled a facelift model for the Cruze to compete against the rivals such as Hyundai Elantra.

The Cruze facelift gets the new wider front grill with Chevrolet bowtie logo in the middle and revised bumper. The headlamp design has been tweaked with new LED DRLs and fog lamp housing is also redesigned. Overall the front end continues the sporty theme from previous model. The side design is carried over, but the new 17 inch alloy wheels gets a new design and the changes to the rear are more subtle with an updated bumper.

The interior changes starts with new 7 inch touch screen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Chevrolet also improved the connectivity features of Cruze as the new model get 4G Wifi Hotspot built in and the features list include rain sensing wiper, keyless entry, 6 way power adjustable driver seat, push button start and more.

The American manufacturer hasn’t skipped on safety either as Cruze comes with 6 airbags, ABS, blind zone alert, rear cross traffic alert, rear park assist, lane keep assist, lane departure warning and forward collision warning.
Chevrolet hasn’t made any mechanical changes for Cruze. In North America, Chevrolet is offering two engine options for Cruze.

The 1.4 L turbo charged petrol engine produces 154 ps of power at 5600 rpm and 177 nm of torque between 2000-4000 rpm. The turbo diesel engine produces 138 ps of power and 325 nm of torque. These engines are mated to 9 speed automatic gearbox and Chevrolet discontinued manual transmission option for the Cruze. Chevrolet will begin sales of the new Cruze soon in North America. Even though Chevrolet stopped sales in India, the company still manufacturers and tests products for International market.
