Chevrolet Beat Essentia is essentially a boot stuck to the popular Beat hatchback from the Chevrolet stable which should finally rock GM’s boat in India
As promised when Marry Bara, CEO of GM came to India, the company said they will be launching many products and one of them will be the sub four meter sedan into the market. This promise is set to come become a reality as the news is confirmed after much rumors that this vehicle is coming to the Auto Expo or not.
Called the Beat Essentia, this sub four meter vehicle will be the last entrant into this segment like Volkswagen with their Ameo. These two cars are going to fight all compact sedans in the market that have been launched in the past. Right from the Tata Zest, Maruti Dzire, Honda Amaze, Ford Aspire and Hyundai Xcent.
Beat Essentia is already has been rendered. However, the main challenge for GM would be how to styling will be done for this sedan as the hatchback donor body is tall boy. Sticking a boot on this design and making and front-rear in sync along with the height is clearly a task. Until unless GM goes the long way of completely overhauling the existing Beat hatchback design or taking the new Beat hatchback as the donor vehicle which unveiled couple of months back.
Beat Essentia will continue to be powered by the same 1.2l Petrol engine which should roughly make 85 PS of power and 112 Nm of torque. The diesel engine is also said to be the same with this vehicle which the hatchback version has. The diesel engine will make around 60 PS and 140 Nm of torque.
The engines have enough driveability and adequate performance to do daily duties. Performance king would most probably remain the same and those vehicles are Ford Figo Aspire and Honda Amaze. Expect a very high value for money tag with this vehicle and as always the fantastic service, warranty package and maintenance schemes that the brand offers.
