Volvo XC40 Momentum and Inscription trims will be launched next month in India as part of expanding the range
Volvo officially launched XC40 on July 4th at Rs. 39.90 lakh (Ex-Showroom). But the company introduced XC40 only in R-Design mid-spec variant. The Swedish auto maker is going to introduce Momentum and Inscription variants of XC40 next month in India. The Momentum is going to be base variant and Inscription will be the fully loaded model.
All three variants across the range has some changes on exterior, interior and features. The Inscription variant gets a new grille which is different to R-Design and Momentum along with bright décor side windows, crystal gear knob, metal tread plates and Inscription moulding in C-Pillar. Both Inscription and Momentum come with colour coordinated rear view mirror cover and silver finish for skid plates at front and rear.
The Momentum variant misses out on adaptive cruise control, park assist pilot, keyless entry leather clad and remote tag, power tailgate, heated seats, power foldable rear headrests, Harman/Kardon premium sound and wireless charging for smartphone. The XC40 also comes with 18 inch alloy wheels as standard but alloy wheel design is different on all three variants.
The chassis is also different for all three variants as Inscription model gets Four-C Chassis, R-Design gets a Sports Chassis and Dynamic Chassis for Momentum variant. The XC40 comes with safety features like front and side airbags, hill start assist, hill decent assist, tyre pressure monitoring system, land keeping assist, front collision mitigation support and more.
Volvo XC40 is powered by 2.0 L turbocharged diesel engine producing 190 PS of power at 4,000 rpm and 400 Nm of torque between 1,750 – 2,500 rpm. This engine is mated to 8 speed automatic gearbox. The XC40 comes with five drive modes – Eco, Comfort, Dynamic, Off-Road and Individual.
The performance numbers are really good as XC40 can achieve 100 kph in just 7.9 sec and top speed is 210 kph. The XC40 is going to be an important model for Volvo in India to expand its market share and the company is expected to begin local assembly by the end of this year. Volvo XC40 compete against BMW X1, Mercedes GLA and Audi Q3.
