Toyota Innova 2.7 petrol deliveries will begin from mid-August onwards as the company looks to offset for the Delhi-NCR diesel ban The Toyota Innova Crysta seems to have received huge applause from the MPV seekers in the domestic market. It has emulated its predecessor by becoming the best-selling premium seven-seater in the country at the end of May 2016 after Toyota making a massive 7,259 units of sales following its market debut. Within ten days of its launch, Toyota managed to receive a whopping 15,000 bookings for the Crysta which previewed a major shake-up in the top ten selling cars chart. As predicted, the second-generation Innova made its entry and slotted in at ninth ahead of Vitara Brezza. Despite Crysta enduring a 44 per cent sales surge, the Japanese automaker had to make do with 7 per cent sales drop due to the ban of registration of 2,000 cc and above capacity diesel-engined cars in Delhi and NCR region. Showing huge frustration on the basis in which the ban was implemented, Toyota has so far been losing customers in large numbers, particularly for the popular Innova in Delhi-NCR. When we asked about the inclusion of a petrol engine into Innova's lineup, Toyota said it will be introduced if the customers urge for it. In another exclusive report, we can now confirm from our trusted sources that Toyota is indeed bringing in the 2.7L petrol to India and deliveries will begin from the middle parts of August. Before that, the production process will commence from the 18th of July. The petrol engine to be added to the dual diesel portfolio is a 2.7-litre four-cylinder unit with Dual VVT-i technology helping it to produce a maximum power output of 166 PS and 245 Nm of peak torque. It is expected to be launched with a six-speed manual transmission initially whilst an automatic option could join in a later time. With the government strongly opposing diesel cars as evident with the extension of ban to Kerala recently, it is believed that more cities will be implementing the same policy in a shorter while. The 2.7L petrol, to be employed in the Innova Crysta, already exists in the international markets and it has all the possibilities to be an attractive alternate options in places where the diesel Innovas cannot be registered.
