Car Seller on OLX Abducted During Test Drive in West Bengal

Car seller abducted during test drive; the incident happened on 25th August in Hussain Nagar, Bardhaman, West Bengal

A car seller in Bardhaman was abducted by prospective buyers after the owner posted ad on online market platform OLX. The incident took place in Hussain Nagar of Bardhaman in West Bengal on 25th August. Muhammad Taskeen Uzzama, a resident of Hussain Nagar posted an advertisement on OLX to sell his Maruti Suzuki Ertiga with registration number WB 38 AB 9700.

Two men contacted Taskeen posing as prospective buyers and they asked for a test drive as well. After Taskeen agreed, they meet outside the owner’s house and he accompanied them for the test drive. But, according to Taskeen’s family, after few minutes his mobile phones were found switched off. Immediately after the incident, Taskeen’s relatives lodged a mission report with the Hirapur police station.

Later on 27th August, the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga was found moderately burnt at the Salgadih village near the Ranchi-Jamshedpur highway NH-33, which comes under Bundu police station area. The car was found locked and pair of slippers were found inside the car. A forensic experts team will go to Bundu to check if any finger print or forensic evidences are available for investigation.

Taskeen’s family informed, they wanted to sell the car at Rs. 6.10 lakh and buy a new one. The kidnappers, posing as buyers called only Taskeen, therefore the family have no clue about who they could be. Ranchi police says, it’s a mystery case, and they have contacted the West Bengal police as well. A team of Bardhaman police will go to Bundu on Monday.
