BYD Atto 3 will have its deliveries commence in January 2023 and the brand intends to sell 15,000 units of the electric SUV in the first year
BYD India unveiled the Atto 3 yesterday and its bookings have commenced for a token of Rs. 50,000 and the first 500 units are intended to be delivered in January 2023. The prices of the electric SUV will be revealed next month. The Chinese manufacturer currently has 24 outlets in 21 cities and it will be expanded to at least 53 showrooms by the end of next year.
The BYD Atto 3 is expected to be priced at around Rs. 36 lakh (ex-showroom) and it will compete against Tata Nexon EV Max, MG ZS EV and the upcoming Mahindra XUV400 and the facelifted Hyundai Kona Electric. BYD (Build Your Dreams) entered India back in 2007 and seven years later, launched its first electric bus.
Following the debut of the e6 electric MPV, BYD has now brought in the Atto 3 and in the next 12 months, it intends to sell 15,000 units of the five-seater electric SUV. It boasts the in-house developed Blade Battery pack with LFP chemistry and is sold via SKD (Semi-Knocked Down) route and rolled out of BYD’s manufacturing unit in Sriperumbudur near Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
The BYD Atto 3 is 4,455 mm long, 1,875 mm wide and stands 1,615 mm with a wheelbase length of 2,720 mm. It is underpinned by the modular e-Platform 3.0 and is equipped with a large 60.48 kWh battery pack. The SUV produces 201 PS and 310 Nm and is claimed to do zero to 100 kmph in just 7.3 seconds.
Available in a total of four paint options, the BYD Atto 3 has an ARAI-certified claimed drive range of 521 km on a single charge. It is said to do zero to 80 per cent in just 50 minutes and has a highly appealing exterior with a drag coefficient of 0.29. The Atto 3 is packed on the inside and has many unique design details to its credit.
The features list composes a rotatable 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with connected features and voice control, an all-digital console, Level 2 ADAS enabling Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning, etc, seven airbags, powered tailgate and front seats, wireless charging, multi-colour ambient lighting, V2L function, eight-speaker audio, and so on.
