BYD Atto 3 has received an ‘electrifying response from customers’ as the total booking stands close to 1,500 units

BYD India has today announced the launch of its first electric SUV for the domestic market, the Atto 3, at a price of Rs. 33.99 lakh (ex-showroom, pan India). The Chinese manufacturer says the Atto 3 has received an ‘electrifying response from customers’ as the total booking stands close to 1,500 units since the reservations opened on October 11.

The five-seater has been made available in a total of four paint schemes namely Boulder Grey, Parkour Red, Ski White, and Surf Blue. It will compete against Tata Nexon EV Max, MG ZS EV, Hyundai Kona Electric and the upcoming Mahindra XUV400 and although being electric SUVs, they have slightly lower range capabilities and are far less expensive as well.

The Atto 3 is the second vehicle offered by the brand for private buyers following the e6 electric MPV. It is equipped with the well-acclaimed Blade Battery technology and sits on the e-Platform 3.0 (born EV). It features a 60.48 kWh battery pack, which is claimed capable of accelerating from zero to 100 kmph in just 7.3 seconds.

Using a DC fast charger, the BYD Atto 3 can replenish back to 80 per cent from 0 in just 50 minutes while the driving range stands at 521 km on a single charge under ARAI’s test conditions. It is also packed with features and advanced technologies including the Level 2 ADAS systems known as BYD Dipilot.

The equipment list also comprises seven airbags, a panoramic sunroof, a 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with an adaptive rotating function, a 360-degree holographic transparent imaging system, an NFC card key, and a Vehicle to Load (VTOL) mobile power station, a wireless charging facility, a one-touch electric tailgate, eight-speaker audio, powered seat, voice control, etc.

The exterior features a stylish profile with flowing body panels and sharp edges evoking a futuristic appeal. It also gets LED headlamps and LED rear lights, multi-colour gradient ambient lighting, PM 2.5 air filter and CN95 air filter. The Atto 3 comes with a 7kW home charger and its installation service, a 3kW portable charging box, a 3-year free 4G Data subscription, 6-year roadside assistance, and 6 free maintenance service.

The battery has a warranty of 8 years or 1.6 lakh kilometres (whichever is earlier), 8 years or 1.5 Lakhs kilometres (whichever is earlier) for the motor and the motor controller, 6 years or 1.5 lakh kilometres for the vehicle, and warranty details of other components. It is on display at every BYD India dealership showroom currently.

The first batch of deliveries will commence in January 2023. Speaking of the launch, Sanjay Gopalakrishnan, Senior Vice President of Electric Passenger Vehicles of BYD India, said, “We are delighted at the overwhelming response from our customers and thank them for joining the EV journey towards a sustainable future. We are happy to announce the price of our much-acclaimed electric SUV BYD-ATTO 3 in India at INR 33.99 Lakhs (All India – ex-showroom). We are eager to introduce BYD-ATTO 3 to the world and plan to expand its availability in the future.”

The brand has plans to inaugurate 24 showrooms across 21 cities in India by the end of this year and aims to expand to at least 53 showrooms by the end of next CY. It will participate at the 2023 Auto Expo and will debut more products and technologies for the domestic market.
