Tata has commenced the booking of the 2020 BS6 Tiago, Tigor and Nexon facelifts for a token amount of Rs 11,000

Tata Motors has revealed a mid-life refresh for the Tiago hatchback, which now gets a BS6 compliant engine, and adheres to Tata’s Impact 2.0 design language. The Indian carmaker has also started taking bookings for the car for a token amount of Rs 11,000.

Commenting on the facelifted hatchback’s reveal, Mayank Pareek, President, Passenger Vehicles Business Unit, Tata Motors, said, “Tata Motors has been vigorously working towards a seamless transition to BS6. We are delighted to have reached this milestone and are elated to be the first in the business to announce the introduction of an entire range of BS6 products (Tiago, Tigor and Nexon) at once.

Externally, the 2020 Tiago gets a new front fascia which looks similar to the upcoming Altroz hatchback. The bonnet of the car has been raised, in order to make it compliant with the stringent pedestrian protection norms; which are set to come into action in October this year.

Apart from that, the Tiago facelift sports a new larger grille with a mesh design, along with restyled bumpers. The outside rear-view mirrors are finished in a piano black. Tata will offer the 2020 Tiago in six paint schemes, which include Flame Red, Pearlescent White, Victory Yellow, Pure Silver, Tectonic Blue and Daytona Grey.

Inside the cabin, expect the 2020 Tiago facelift to get a few additional features over the outgoing model, which will also certainly lead to a hike in Tiago’s current starting price of Rs. 4.55 lakh (ex-showroom).

The updated Tiago continues to be powered by Tata’s 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine, albeit in a BS6-compliant state. Although, it is yet to be seen if the said powertrain continues to put out 84 hp of maximum power and 114 Nm peak torque as the outgoing car.

Since Tata has decided against producing small capacity diesel mills in the BS6 era, the 1.05-litre three-cylinder diesel mill, which is rated at 69 hp/140 Nm, will not be offered with the 2020 Tiago or even the Tigor. Tata Motors has confirmed that it will be launching the updated Tiago later this month, possibly after the launch of its premium hatch Altroz on January 22.
