The second-generation Mini Countryman gains an updated design on the outside and it is the biggest car in the company’s storied history. Built on a UKL front-wheel drive platform, the new Countryman sports an evolutionary design as the basic silhouette stays similar to its predecessor. Up front, it features an aggressive grille with chrome trim and distinctive LED headlamps with peripheral LED daytime running light ring.
Besides that, it also comprises of chrome trims around fog lamp enclosures and skid plate. On the sides, it features black side body cladding, sporty roof rails and 19-inch light alloy wheels delivering sporty vibe. Out the back, it comes with twin round shaped chrome tipped sporty tailpipes, integrated roof spoiler, LED taillights with chrome trim and a muscular bumper with skid plate.

It comes equipped new 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Touch Controller on centre console, Harman Kardon sourced hi-fi surround sound system along with head-up display, LED interior and ambient lighting. In India, it is available across Cooper S, Cooper SD, and Cooper S JCW variants. The S and S JCW take power from a 1,998 cc four-cylinder petrol engine making 192 hp and 280 Nm and are mated to an eight-speed automatic and eight-speed Sport automatic transmissions respectively.

The entry-level Cooper S is priced at Rs. 34.90 lakh while Cooper SD costs Rs 37.40 lakh and the performance-based Cooper S JCW Inspired is sold at Rs 41.40 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Its local production has underway at BMW Group’s plant in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
