Toyota Innova Hycross
Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) appears to have closed the bookings temporarily for the strong hybrid variants of the Innova Hycross and the Urban Cruiser Hyryder in the domestic market. As per a dealer source, this has been done due to the very high waiting period and the supply is limited. Currently, the top-end mild-hybrid variant of the Hyryder can be booked.
Furthermore, only the regular petrol variants of the Innova Hycross can be reserved right now. The waiting period for the G and V mild-hybrid MT variants of the Hyryder stands at 15 months and 10 months respectively while the all-wheel-drive V mild-hybrid MT has it at only three to four months (second lowest within the Hyryder portfolio).
The G and V mild-hybrid automatic variants have a waiting period of two months each but the entry-level S mild-hybrid MT and AT versions command a lengthy waiting of 36 months and up to 27 months respectively. The strong hybrid version is available in S, V and G grades (one trim for each level). Customers wanting to own the S strong hybrid AT will have to wait five to six months.
The G strong hybrid variant has a waiting period of six to seven months and the top-spec V strong hybrid version command a waiting of three to four months. The Urban Cruiser Hyryder has several commonalities with the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and is based on Suzuki’s Global C platform. It uses the 1.5-litre K15C four-pot mild-hybrid petrol engine sourced from Maruti Suzuki.
However, the 1.5-litre three-cylinder TNGA Atkinson Cycle petrol engine working in concert with an electric motor and a large battery pack forming a strong hybrid system is developed in-house by Toyota. It enables a dedicated EV mode and a claimed fuel efficiency of close to 28 kmpl. Just a month ago, Toyota announced the prices of the Innova Hycross in India.
It is equipped with a 2.0-litre NA four-cylinder petrol and a 2.0-litre strong hybrid petrol mill with a claimed fuel economy of just over 21 kmpl.
