BMW X2 concept revealed at Paris paving way for the sixth model in the company’s SUV line-up
BMW has revealed the 2017 X2 concept at Paris Motor Show. The concept paves way for X2 production model, which will be the sixth car in BMW’s SUV lineup, and expected to launch sometime later in 2017 with a price-tag around £30,000. The production-spec X2 will come sharing several parts with its smaller sibling BMW X1, but with distinctive features of course.
The 2017 BMW X2 concept features sporty sleeker headlamp clusters, with BMW’s signature LED corona rings. Also it sports BMW signature kidney grille and bold bumper, which incorporates large air intake. Expect both sides of the bumper to boast large air dams, and a skid plate is also to come at front.

The side profile features large aggressive alloy wheels, side body cladding, a a heavy muscular tone. The roofline seems lowered compared to X1, which gives the car a distinctive look. Also the BMW X2 concept indicates, the production model will sport wide LED taillights and roof spoiler. Apart from that, expect a hatchback styled tailgate with a separately opening rear window as well. It features rear skid plate and twin round shape exhaust vents.
Interior of BMW X2 could feature several elements shared with smaller sibling X1. Once launched, X2 will be German automaker group’s second model to be based on the UKL platform, after second generation Mini Countryman. Interestingly, the new generation Mini Countryman is also being showcased at 2016 Paris Motor Show.

In comparison with BMW X1, the upcoming X2 will be much sportier and bolder as well. As BMW X4 features a sportier appearance compared to X3, and X6 looks compared to X5; the upcoming X2 will be a sportier and performance oriented version of X1. The German luxury automaker describes upcoming X2 as more adventurous version of X1.
On the powertrain front, BMW X2 is expected to get a range of petrol and diesel engines. Expect BMW X2 the petrol variant X2 xDrive20i to take power from a 189 bhp producing 2.0-litre turbocharged engine. On the diesel front, the car is expected to come available in three different variants, powered by 2.0-litre engine.

The diesel variants are – X2 xdrive18d (148 bhp), X2 xDrive20d (187 bhp) and X2 xDrive25d (227 bhp). Transmission options could be 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearboxes. It will be offered in both front and AWD configurations.
