The i3S get 33.2 Kwh Lithium-ion battery and it has a driving range of 200 km when the battery is fully charged
BMW India already confirmed that the company is looking at niche segments and value for money products to drive growth in India. The German manufacturer is very aggressive in India as they have planned several launches for the coming months like M2 Competition and M5 Competition along with i8 spyder which is expected by the end of this year.
Vikram Pawah, BMW India president confirmed that the company is planning to launch i3S in India. The company is conducting feasibility study of i3S for our market. Globally, BMW revealed an updated i3 facelift at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. The company had already showcased new i3 at the 2018 Auto Expo when asked during the Expo, BMW confirmed that they won’t launch i3 in India.

The Indian government is pushing alternative fuel vehicles for sometime and this is expected to get bigger in coming months with new FAME scheme to be announced soon. BMW is going to introduce the performance i3S variant for the Indian market, but the company is yet to confirm which model is coming whether the regular i3S or the range extender version.
BMW i3S is powered electric motors produce 184 PS of power and 270 Nm of torque. The i3S get 33.2 Kwh Lithium-ion battery and it has a driving range of 200 km when the battery is fully charged. The battery can be charged using standard AC charger and it takes 11 hours for the battery to be fully charged.

BMW I Wallbox AC charger takes only 2 hours and 45 minutes to charge 80 percent and this drop further to just 39 minutes by using DC fast charger. The range extended version get electric engine along with 0.6 L petrol engine producing 38 PS of power and 56 Nm of torque. The range is only 150 km but using the petrol engine to charge battery it can be extended to further 180 km and then the total range extend to 330 kms.
BMW i3S can reach 100 kph in 6.7 sec and the top speed is 160 kph. The range extender version is slightly slower to 100 kph by 0.4 sec as it has more weight than the regular version. To improve handling, the i3S model is 10 mm lower ground clearance. If launched, BMW i3S doesn’t have a direct rival in India right now.
