BMW G310RR super sport bike based on Apache RR310 could become reality to rival KTM RC390, Kawasaki Ninja 300 and Yamaha R3
TVS Motor Company is on a launch spree lately and expected to introduce another brand new product next month following the revitalising of its entry-level commuter hopes with Radeon 110. Ever since the BMW G310R based flagship Apache RR310 came out, the brand’s intentions of having a sizeable share in the base premium performance segment was flagrant.
BMW Motorrad took more than seven months since the RR310’s debut in December 2017 to commercial launch the G310R naked street-fighter amidst expectations based on its affordability skyrocketing in the due course. While its pricing is still a debatable affair, BMW’s sales aspiration for India is still on a right path to succeed.
While strengthening its product offering in the sub-4 lakh segment would ensure volume, no official plans from BMW for India are known yet. Rumours have constantly circulated around the internet about a possible super sport motorcycle based on the Apache RR310, as it has the looks and performance to spawn a brand new BMW product.
First glimpses of it have appeared courtesy of oliepeil.nl. The segment-leading KTM RC390 and its rivals Yamaha YZF-R3, Kawasaki Ninja 300 and Benelli 302R could have a new competitor waiting in the wings for arrival. The 2019 BMW G310RR World Supersport race bike has been showcased at BMW Motorrad Days in Japan, giving us some idea of how the production bike may look like when BMW decides to make one.
The racer could make its debut at the Intermot Show next month in Cologne or during the EICMA Show in Milan in November ahead of next year’s season. The 2019 BMW G310RR Supersport adorns a dark paint theme with white stripes as seen in the top-spec S1000RR models but its objective of being a race machine is resonated all around.
For instance, the G310RR Supersport has abundant use of carbon-fibre all around with the signature twin headlamp assembly. The exhaust unit is positioned underneath the seat and the foot pegs, rear monoshock, fuel tank and seat sections are finished in white stickers with G310RR graphics glaring at the road on the front fairing.
The production-spec 2019 BMW G310RR will share obvious components with the TVS Apache RR310 including the bi-LED projector lamps, 17-inch wheels, braking systems and suspension bits. The TVS flagship is based on a split chassis trellis frame with unique reverse inclined 312.2 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine producing 34 PS at 9,700 rpm and 27.3 Nm at 7,700 rpm.
It is mated to a six-speed transmission and suspended on inverted cartridge telescopic front fork and monotube floating piston gas assisted shock absorber with aluminium die-cast swingarm. If BMW decides to make the G310RR, it will be an attractive proposition for customers, as it will be considered as a smaller alternative to the S1000RR.
