BMW G310R production commences in India; it is the smallest motorcycle from BMW Motorrad in recent times

BMW Motorrad’s G310R has been spotted testing on Indian roads in recent times. Now the production of the global motorcycle has began in India. The motorcycle is being produced at the TVS Motor plant in Hosur near Bangalore. This is the first BMW motorcycle in the sub 500 cc roadster category. The motorcycle is developed in Munich, but will be built in India by TVS.

The motorcycle was first unveiled in Brazil in 2015. Later it was also showcased at the 2016 New Delhi Auto Expo earlier this month. The BMW G310R comes inspired by the stunt bike concept. The aggressive looking motorcycle is capable to run on the urban roads and through the rough terrains at ease. Dimensionally, the motorcycle measures 1,988 mm in length, 896 mm in width, 1,227 mm in height and 1,374 mm of wheelbase.

Power source for the motorcycle is a new 313 cc liquid cooled single cylinder engine paired with a 6 speed transmission. The 158.5 kilogram weighing motorcycle churns out 34 hp of peak power and 28 Nm of peak torque. It offers 36.05 kmpl of fuel economy with a top speed of 144 kmph.

The motorcycle gets forks at the front and mono shock suspension at the rear. It runs on 17 inch alloy wheels wrapped with Metzeler tyres. It sports disc brakes at both the wheels. The front sports 300 mm disc brake and the rear features 240 mm disc. Among other features the motorcycle sports LED side indicators, fully digital instrument cluster.

The BMW G310R is expected to launch in India in October, this year. The made in India motorcycle will be exported to the overseas markets like other Asian countries, Australia and Europe. The motorcycle will lock horn with rivals like Mahindra Mojo, Honda CBR250R and KTM Duke 390. In India it is expected to be priced at around Rs. 1.8 lakh.
