BMW G310 GS Tourer is heavily inspired by its larger siblings F700GS and R1200 GS; shares engine with BMW G310R

BMW Motorrad is targeting affordable adventure tourer segment in India with its G310 GS. The bike has made its grand appearance at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo and grabbed everyone’s attention here. This much awaited mini adventure tourer was displayed at the EICMA 2016 in Milan and since then we have been waiting to see it in flesh and here it comes at the Auto Expo.

This aggressive and rugged looking adventure tourer will be launched here commercially in the second half of 2018. The bike draws design inspiration from its bigger siblings, specially the F700GS and R1200 GS. Also, it shares the same engine and several components as its naked streetfighter sibling G310R.

BMW G310 GS Engine, Performance and Mileage

BMW F310GS shares the same engine with its naked streetfighter sibling G310R, which is also about to launch in the Indian market soon. Power source for the G310 GS is a 313 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine, which is mated to a 6-speed transmission. The engine is capable to kick out 34 PS of peak power at 9,500 rpm and 28 Nm of peak torque at 7,500 rpm.

This engine and transmission are well capable to make the bike perform its duty on light rugged terrains, the purpose for which it has been built. The bike is expected to return around 30 kmpl of mileage while it is able to hit a top speed of 143 kmph and the bike weighs 170 kg.

For braking duty, the bike uses a 300 mm front disc brake and a 240 mm rear disc brake combined with a dual-channel ABS. Suspension duty in the BMW G310 GS is done by 41 mm upside down front forks and multi-step adjustable monoshock absorber at the back. So far, BMW has equipped this bike with top notch quality equipments to deliver a superior performance.

It sports sharp and powerful headlamp, a beak like front cowl, a tall windshield, fully digital instrument cluster, muscular fuel tank with sculpted appearance. The low positioned seat with wide handlebars ensures greater control over the machine along with a comfortable riding position.

There is an LED taillight and the bike also sports an underbody skid plate protecting the engine block from scratch.
