China
China is the biggest automobile market in the world. Not only in terms of car production, China is on top of the list of global car sales. The Wuling Hong Guang is the top selling car in the country since its introduction in September 2010. This compact MPV is a rebadged and reworked version of the Chevrolet Enjoy MPV and it is produced by SAIC-GM-Wuling a joint venture of three companies.
In the Chinese market, second bestselling car is the Volkswagen Lavida. This is a compact sedan launched in 2008 and it has been very popular in the Chinese auto market since introduction. This sedan was the bestseller in the country before the arrival of Wuling Hong Guang. At the third position is the Haval H6 SUV produced by Great Wall Motors. Interestingly, SAIC is going to be the first Chinese brand to sell cars in India.

USA
USA is the second biggest auto market in the world and American car buyer’s love for the muscular pickup trucks is very much evident as the top 3 selling models in the country are pickup trucks. At the top is the iconic Ford F-Series pickup truck that became the world’s bestselling car in 2016 beating Toyota Corolla.
At the second position in the list is the Chevrolet Silverado, which is another muscular pickup truck and also known as GMC Sierra. Third spot is occupied by the RAM pickup, a full size pickup truck from the FCA. All these three pickup trucks have been ruling the top three positions for last couple of years. The Ford F-Series and RAM pickup have registered more than 8% growth in the H1 2017 compared to same period last year.

Japan:
While Japanese automakers rule the world with their range of cars, the home market is dominated by Toyota in terms of volume sales. But, if we see at the list of top selling cars in Japanese market, Nissan is at the top with its Note mini MPV. In the first quarter of 2017, Nissan Note sold 53,355 units in the country.
The second and third position are occupied by Toyota with the Prius and C-HR. The Prius hybrid sedan has sold a total of 48,288 units in Japan in first quarter of current year, while the C-HR has sold a total of 38,945 units in the same period. Interestingly, the Prius hybrid has already in India and the C-HR is ready to be launched here next year.

Germany
German car market is dominated by Volkswagen that is the largest car brand in the world at present. While the automaker is the top brand in its home soil in terms of sales volume, in the bestselling cars list too, it occupies the first four spots. The topselling vehicle is the Volkswagen Golf that is also bestselling model in several other European markets as well.
The second and third positions are occupied by the Volkswagen Polo and Volkswagen Tiguan. In the first six months of 2017, Volkswagen Gold has registered sales number of 113,998 units and among that 32.9% is attributed to diesel powered models. Volkswagen Polo and Tiguan registered 40,105 units and 37,013 units in the same period. Both the VW Polo and Tiguan are available in the Indian market as well.

UK
Ford Fiesta has been one of the most favourite cars in the UK market. The American auto giant clearly dominates the list of top selling cars in British market with models like Fiesta and Focus. Ford Fiesta is currently the top selling car in Britain and it has sold 59,380 units in the first six months of 2017.
The Ford Focus is another popular car in UK and it is positioned at the second position in the list with 40,045 units of sales registered in H1 2017. The performance oriented Focus RS has contributed a significant part in the total sales of the Ford Focus. At the third position is the Volkswagen Golf that registered a ales number of 36,703 in January-June period of 2017.

India
Indian passenger car market is dominated by the Maruti Suzuki and he majority of cars occupy the bestselling car list. The Maruti Suzuki Alto is the bestselling car here consistently. This car bears the legacy of the Maruti 800 and it has been vehemently popular among the first time car buyers. The Alto range includes both the Alto 800 and Alto K10 models.
The second and third position holders in the list are the Dzire compact sedan and the Swift hatchback, both from the stable of Maruti Suzuki. France is currently the seventh biggest car market in the world. It is dominated by the major French automakers like Renault and Peugeot. In the bestselling car list, top position is held by the Renault Clio that sold 64,408 in January to June period of 2017. The second and third positions are held by the Groupe PSA owned Peugeot.
The second spot in the list is occupied by the Peugeot 208 that registered 54,811 units in the first half of 2017 and third position is occupied by the Peugeot 2008 that registered 38,705 units in the same period. As Peugeot is preparing to re-enter the Indian market soon, these two models, the Peugeot 208 hatchback and the Peugeot 2008 SUV are expected to be among the initial offerings from the brand.

Brazil
Brazilian market is one of the most competitive and fastest emerging markets around the world. Car market in the country is dominated by automobile giants like FCA, General Motors etc. In the top selling car list, Chevrolet Onix hatchback is the top position holder in the first six months of 2017.
Second position is held by the Hyundai HB20 in the first six months of current year. Right next is the Ford KA at the third position. While the sales of the Hyundai HB20 and the Ford KA have dropped lately, the Chevrolet Onix continues its indomitable run in the Brazilian market.

Like its neighbour USA, Canadian market too is dominated by pickup trucks. The Ford F-Series pickup truck rules the Canadian car space in the first six months of 2017 with highest number of sales. At the second position is the RAM pickup that has seen drop in sales in recent times but managed to grab the second position.
Third position is held by the GMC Sierra that is also known as Chevrolet Silverado. Interestingly, all these three cars rule the US market as well. However, in USA Chevrolet Silverado is the second bestselling car and the RAM pick is positioned at the third spot.
