Benelli TNT 15 was showcased in Indonesia, likely to come India but not so soon
Benelli worldwide is making sure this time they get the volumes they need to sustain the company and make profit. After launching the bigger made in China and Italy bikes in India and showcasing some other bikes recently in Goa at the IBW which includes the much awaited TNT 25.
A single cylinder 250cc motorcycle which produces a lot of power and torque weighs very well and challenges the mighty KTM Duke 200 and Pulsar 200 variants. However know Benelli is gone down the ladder and come up with something even more interesting for the mass market to get the taste of Benelli in India and other Asian countries.
The Benelli TNT 15 is a 150cc motorcycle unveiled by Benelli in Indonesia as the market is quite important most manufacturer around the world who make small displacement motorcycles. Indonesia is famous for motorcycles upto 250cc after which taxes are at an all time high. The 150cc motorcycle here is a 148cc motor with undisclosed power and torque figures. The engine is a long-stroke, under-square motor which has a compression fairly low compression ratio of 9:2 comes with electric start.
Rest of things are pretty industry standard such as a 5-speed gearbox, drum brakes at the rear and disc at front with tight dimensions. Tyres are identical dimension seen on most competition such as 90×90 at front and 110×80 at the rear. Suspension is also an adjustable unit at the rear and telescopic forks at the front.
Power and torque figures are likely to be around 15-16 PS mark and torque should be above 12/13 Nm. A 2-valve head ensures that mid range should be punchy enough and focus could be low end torque as well. The bike looks quite substantial for 150cc motorcycle and reminds us of the NS series of motorcycles from Bajaj which now house 150cc and 200cc engines at the same time. Design reminds us of the Apache and headlight is very Duke-ish.
The belly pan engine cowl and bikini fairing are industry standard this 150cc gets it. DSK might bring it to India so soon as it wants create an image of premium motorcycles in the country. However, if the TNT 25 can come in than later on Benelli TNT 15 can come in for sure and both motorcycles turn out to be good then localization can happen as well.
