The Imperiale 400 will be the cheapest cruiser from Benelli which will be assembled in India and will lock its horns with the Jawa 42 and the Jawa cruisers

Benelli launched their adventure tourers the TRK 502 and the 502X in India on 18th February 2019. During the time of the launch, the Benelli officials confirmed that they have plans of launching at least 5 new motorcycles this year in India and the Imperiale 400 will be one of them.

From these images, you can clearly notice that this upcoming motorcycle will be Benelli’s first retro-styled offering that will rival directly against the likes of the Jawa and Jawa 42 cruisers. The Imperiale 400 is a modern take of the Benelli-MotoBi range of motorcycles produced in the 1950s.

The motorcycle first made its appearance at the 2017 EICMA motorcycle show two years ago. The Imperiale 400 will be powered by a 373.5 cc, single-cylinder, single overhead cam, fuel-injected engine which produces around 19 bhp of peak power at 5500 rpm and 28 Nm of peak torque at 3500 rpm.

The engine will be paired with a 5-speed gearbox. The motorcycle is built around a double cradle chassis and uses a telescopic front suspension and conventional dual shocks towards the rear. The model which was showcased at the motorcycle show featured disc brakes on both wheels and will also get a dual channel ABS as standard for the safety of its rider.

If we talk about its styling the Imperiale 400 gets a classic round halogen headlamp, teardrop-shaped fuel tank with rubber grip and split seats. The motorcycle also gets a simple twin-pod instrument cluster and plenty of chrome bits everywhere to keep the retro feel intact.

The motorcycle won’t get any electronic aid apart from ABS to keep the prices competitive. If we talk about some other specs the Imperiale 400 has a kerb weight of 200 kilograms and gets a 12-Litre fuel tank which promises to provide a decent range.

Benelli has plans of assembling the motorcycle here in India at their new manufacturing facility in Hyderabad. Like we already mentioned above the Benelli Imperiale 400 will rival directly against the likes of the Jawa 42 and the Jawa and also the Royal Enfield Classic 350 when it finally launches here towards the second half of 2019.
