Benelli 402S could be part of the future launches from the revived brand; powered by 40 PS 399 cc twin cylinder engine
The cruiser segment in India is dominated by Royal Enfield, but Bajaj created a new segment called Power Cruiser with the introduction of Dominar 400. The company was expecting Dominar to take the fight to popular RE models, but sales are mediocre. Benelli is planning to launch 12 new products by the end of next year and they are likely going to introduce 402S in India to take on Bajaj Dominar 400.
Benelli 402S is basically a cheaper alternative of the Ducati Diavel as design of both these bikes are almost similar. The 402S comes with projector headlamp with LED DRLs and design is focused towards muscular fuel tank. The company has given single piece seat, which is placed lower on the body and pillion seat is not usable.
The rear gets LED tail lamps along with tyre hugger and number plate holder is integrated. The tube trellis frame is exposed and the 402S comes with beefier 41 mm upside down forks at front and mono shocks at rear, which get pre-load adjustment, the suspension will be tuned for comfort.
The 402S gets single piece handle bar and it is positioned slightly higher on the body along with forward set foot pegs for a comfortable riding position. The instrument cluster is fully digital and it is loaded with lots of information for the rider. The design is going to be one of its USPs in Indian market.
Benelli 402S is powered by 399 cc in-line, fuel injected, two-cylinder engine producing 40 PS of power at 9,000 rpm and 35 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm. This engine is mated to 6 speed gearbox and the company has tuned the engine for linear power delivery. We can also expect good fuel efficiency and 402S comes with 16 lite fuel tank.
The 402S gets four-piston calipers twin 260 mm disc at front and two-piston calipers single 240 mm disc at rear. In India, Benelli will likely offer dual channel ABS as standard and 402S comes with 17 inch alloy wheels with 120/70 section tyre at front and 160/60 section tyre at rear. We can expect Benelli to price 402S aggressively against competition.
