Baojun is one of the low cost brands created by a joint venture between SAIC, Wuling Motors and GM China. The test mule of E100 EV has been spotted first time in India

MG Motor is owned by SAIC and the company is testing several models in India. The company is yet to finalize product lineup for India and they are also conducting several road shows across India for prospective dealers. Some of the products tested in India include MG RX5, MG ZS, Roewe E RX5 EV, Baojun 530 and Baojun E100 EV.

Most of the these products won’t be launched in India but MG Motor want to gather data, which can be used for developing future products for the company. Even if these products come to India it will be branded under MG Motor as perception of Indians towards Chinese brands is not good and won’t help them to establish good market share.

SAIC is one of the biggest automobile companies in China and they have several brands which cater to different segments. Baojun is one of the low cost brands created by a joint venture between SAIC, Wuling Motors and GM China. The EV brand is so popular in Chinese market.

Rajeev Chaba, president of MG Motor confirmed earlier that Baojun E100 EV is testing in India.  Finally, the test mule of E100 EV has been spotted first time in India. Baojun E100 EV is a small city car which can seat only two people. The short length and wheelbase gives E100 EV small turning radius and it helps the EV in conjusted places.

The design of E100 EV is similar to Mercedes Benz Smart cars. Baojun E100 EV is powered by a single electric motor producing 39.43 PS of power and 110 Nm of torque. The 14.9 kwh battery pack has a range of 155 km and it can be fully charged in 7 hours.

The E100 EV received an update last month which helps the EV to increase range to 200 km. But the company is not providing fast charging. We are not expecting MG Motor to launch E100 EV in India as these types of small city cars appeal to developed market like Europe, China and US.
