One of the reasons for replacing Pulsar 135 LS is that the company must give ABS for models above 125 cc from April 2018 as per govt. mandate
Last month, some reports suggested that Pulsar 135 LS was discontinued in India as the model was removed the official website and the sales figures confirmed that the model was not performing well even after minor updates. But Pulsar 135 LS appeared again on the website and the company confirmed that they didn’t discontinue the model.
The website was going under maintenance which is why Pulsar 135 LS was missing and it has been rectified now. According to a media report, Bajaj is going to replace Pulsar 135 LS with new Pulsar 125 in 2019. One of the reasons for replacing Pulsar 135 LS is that the company must give ABS for the model as government has made it mandatory that all motorcycles above 125 cc must come with ABS braking system from April 1, 2018 for newer models and existing models from next year onwards.

The ABS system will increase price of Pulsar 135 LS which will make it out of the reach of many potential customers. So instead of adding ABS, Bajaj is going to introduce Pulsar 125 which will make the brand more affordable for a wider audience.
The Pulsar 135 LS will continue in production as it is a popular choice in export market. Bajaj Pulsar 125 is going to be powered by same engine from Discover 125. The 124.6 cc, 4 valve single cylinder engine produces 13 hp of power at 9,000 rpm and 10.8 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm which is not much different from the current 135 cc engine which puts out 13.5 hp of power at 9,000 rpm and 11.4 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm. This engine will be mated to 5 speed gearbox.

Another advantage for Bajaj for using this engine is that they don’t need to give ABS as it is below 125 cc in configuration and need to offer only cost effective CBS braking system. This will certainly help Bajaj to price Pulsar 125 competitively against the competition. Bajaj Pulsar 125 is going to compete against Hero Glamour and Honda Shine SP. With the Pulsar branding and aggressive pricing, Bajaj might able to beat its competitors.
