Bajaj Auto Regains the Third Spot by Beating TVS Motors

Two and three wheeler maker Bajaj Auto regains the third spot in Indian market in terms of number of units sold in April. The Pune based automaker regained the position after two years beating the Chennai based automaker TVS Motor. In recent times, the Bajaj Auto has launched several new models including the new Avenger lineup and the V15, which is bearing the INS Vikrant legacy. These new models are behind the success of the Pune based automaker, as the market specialists believe.

In the April 2016 sales chart the Bajaj Auto has sold 200433 units of two wheelers compare to TVS Motor’s 197692 units. Two years ago, in April 2014 Bajaj Auto sold 176277 units compare to the TVS Motor’s 174219 units. That was the last time Bajaj Auto beat the TVS Motors. Later in June 2014 TVS Motors went ahead in terms of sales.

In April 2015 Bajaj Auto sold 160554 units, now with the latest sales figure in April 2016 the automaker has seen a 25% increase in domestic sales figure. On the other hand the TVS Motor has recorded a 22% rise in sales in April 2016 with its 197692 units compare to 162516 units sold in April 2015. Bajaj Auto is trying to retain the lead with doubled production at its Chakan plant. The automaker is planning to manufacture 200000 units per year.

Bajaj Auto doesn’t sell scooters, while almost all of its competitors are present in the fast growing scooter segment. TVS Motor has seen a 28% increase in its scooter sales which is strongly driven by the highly in demand TVS Jupiter 110 cc automatic scooter.

In recent times Bajaj Auto has introduced the new refreshed Avenger with new variants. The entire Avenger lineup became pretty popular, leading the automaker to increase the production. The Bajaj V15 also became a hit, as it has been built with the scrap metal from India’s glorious aircraft carrier INS Vikrant. These models increased Bajaj Auto’s sales by 50000 units per month, which ultimately lead the domestic sales of the company beyond 200000 units for the first time in last six months. Apart from the Avenger line up and V15, Bajaj Auto’s two other crucial products CT100 and the CT100B have been doing well also.
