The new Yamaha R and D centre is located in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu; a total of Rs. 66 crore invested in the facility Yamaha Motor sets up its second R & D centre in India at the company’s Kanchipuram plant in Tamil Nadu. The new centre will focus on the enhancement of the capability of the products and the capacity also. The company has five overseas R & D centres in China, India, Italy, Taiwan and Thailand. The new R & D centre established in India will help the company in developing the products. It will also help the two wheeler maker to minimize the costs to stay competitive against the rivals. The centre comes with prototype testing and validation facility. The centre is also equipped with test track, which has been built keeping the Indian road condition in mind. Also the company is planning to offer products at an affordable and competitive pricing. In an attempt to do so, the two wheeler maker is emphasizing on higher local developments. Also the company is focusing on improving both the manufacturing and engineering of the products in the country. Alongside the domestic market, the new R & D centre at Kanchipuram will help the companies overseas export spec products as well. The Japanese two wheeler manufacturer has invested a total of Rs. 66 crore in the new centre. As a response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Make in India’ campaign, Yamaha has planned to design, develop and manufacture its products in the country by the end of 2018. This new R & D centre will surely help the company to achieve the goal. And the new R & D centre at Kanchipuram is a part of that only. In recent times, the company has focused on the scooter segment in the Indian domestic market. The scooter segment has seen a rapid increase in sales, which has even surpassed the motorcycle segment as well.
