Walking back to the history of Ford Company, they were the first brand to adopt many new technologies, one of them being to use the assembly line 100 years ago. Now, Ford has yet again created history by allowing consumers download digital images and 3D-printable files of Ford vehicles at their Ford 3D Store, the first-ever automaker-licensed, one-stop 3D shop online by which fans can print Ford 3D car scale model. Fans can now download digital images of Ford Cars at the one-stop online store for 3D-printable vehicle files. The online store is driven by TurboSquid.com, the master in providing automotive digital imaging and 3D-printable files. The Ford 3D Store, 3d.ford.com, gives users the access to enhance their own models of Ford vehicles of the size and material they desire. Customers can also purchase 3D digital file from the 1,000+ Ford image library. “3D printing at home is a growing trend, and it makes sense for us to offer our customers a chance to make their own 3D Ford models,” said Mark Bentley, licensing manager, Ford Global Brand Licensing. “At Ford, we’re using 3D printing every day to rapidly prototype parts, and now we want to share that fun with our fans.” Currently available Ford 3D Car Scale Model are of the new Ford GT, F-150 Raptor, Shelby GT350R, Focus ST and Fiesta ST, the digital files for rest of the Ford vehicles will be available at later. The 3D-printed models are available for order in 1/32nd scale plastic. However, purchasing a digital image allows consumers to 3D-print a Ford car model to the scale and of the material they choose. Professional 3D printers can be made available to create a model with materials from soft plastics to sandstone and even different metals. “TurboSquid already allows customers to purchase more than 1,000 unique, licensed digital images of Ford products ranging from the Model T to the all-new Ford GT,” said Bentley. “We’re at the forefront of licensing 3D automotive images, and it made sense that TurboSquid help us complete that connection to the consumer.” The site also cautions the users not to use the3D-printable files commercially. A user has to adhere to this clause by registering with the site.
