Audi rolls out millionth Q5 from the Ingolstadt ahead of the second-generation model’s world premiere at the upcoming Paris Motor Show
Audi has achieved a new milestone couple of days back as the one millionth Q5 luxury SUV manufactured at the Ingolstadt production base was rolled out. The special vehicle was a SQ5 that will be delivered to a German family and was painted in Sepang Blue with a powerful V6 under the bonnet. The accomplished milestone comes eight years after the SUV was launched officially in the international market and the crowd puller has its presence in more than 100 countries around the world.
The Four Rings’ Q5 is an outstanding seller both in India and China which enabled the German company to locally produce this model. Cumulatively, the deliveries of the global SUV will account for about 1.6 million. Standing in conformation to its ever growing popularity is that last year the car maker sold a total of 2,66,968 units worldwide which is a significant increase by eight percent compared to the twelve months in the previous year.
The SUV range of Audi has indeed tasted success in various luxury categories. For an instance, the flagship Q7 SUV continues to be the best-selling model in its segment according to the brand and between the period of January and June 2016 its sales rose by 4.7 percent internationally. For India, the Q5 starts with an ex-showroom Delhi price of Rs. 48.44 lakh and it goes all the way to Rs. 55.44 lakh for the TDI Sports Edition.
With one engine option, the Q5 SUV’s 2.0-litre four-cylinder inline turbocharged engine develops a maximum power output of 174 bhp at 4,200 rpm and 380 Nm of peak torque at 1,750 rpm. The only available transmission is the seven-speed automatic with paddle shifters sending powering to all four wheels. The second-generation Q5 is slated to debut at the upcoming Paris Motor Show and it will be produced at Mexico instead.
Capitalising on the volume sales of its SUV portfolio, Audi launched the entry-level luxury Q2 crossover. It debuted at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show earlier this year and the production had begun in July at the Ingolstadt facility. The globally-focussed SUV is an attractive proposition for India and is expected to be launched sometime this fiscal.
