To revive sales fortunes, two-wheeler as well as car brands are lining up several exciting launches in the financial year 2019-20

Both the car and two-wheeler industries have been facing huge sales declines in the last six months. During this festive season and the course of this financial year, as much as 50 new models approximately from both the branches of passenger mobility will be launched in the domestic market.

Some of the reasons for the sales slowdown are volatility in fuel pricing, high-interest rates and increase in insurance premium. Besides the regular IC-engined models, manufacturers are lining up hybrid and electric vehicles as well. Hyundai introduced the country’s first electric SUV based on the Kona just over a week ago.

While MG’s eZS zero-emission SUV will be introduced this December, the electric version of Mahindra KUV100 along with Audi e-tron, Jaguar I Pace and Nissan Leaf are other possible vehicles to enter India before the end of this fiscal. But the highly anticipated electric car arrival is apparently the Wagon R EV that could be launched at the 2020 Auto Expo.

The biennial motoring exhibition will more likely be utilised by automakers to not just showcase their new creations but launch new products including EVs and hybridised vehicles. Next month, Kia will debut in the market with the Seltos mid-size SUV and around the same time, the next-generation Hyundai Grand i10 and Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Cross will make their way into the domestic scenes.

Honda Cars India is expected to launch the HR-V and next-gen City while the Buzzard and Altroz will be slotted into their respective segments in the coming months. Renault’s facelifted Kwid and Triber will follow suit the recently updated Duster as well. On the other hand, the Tucson facelift, new avatar of Elite i20 and Karoq have high chances of launching in India.

The S-Presso micro SUV from Maruti Suzuki is also joining the party this festive season. In the two-wheeler space, the 125 cc Honda Activa, entry-level Bajaj Pulsar, KTM 390 Adventure, Urbanite electric scooter and more products from TVS and Hero MotoCorp are on the cards.
