Suzuki claims that the Swift hybrid can return 32 kmpl in JC08 cycle and the lithium-ion battery will be charged through re-generative braking
PT Suzuki Indomobil Motor has showcased Swift Hybrid at GIIAS 2018 and it is branded as ‘Swift Strong Hybrid’. The hybrid model of Swift made its global debut in Japan last year and the Japanese manufacturer is planning to introduce Swift hybrid later this year in Indonesia. Maruti Suzuki is yet to confirm whether the Swift hybrid will be launched in India.
The all new Swift Hybrid continues the same design from regular model and the only aesthetic changes are new front grille and alloy wheels. The interior changes include blue inserts on gear lever and blue back light for instrument cluster. The MID screen also displays information like battery percentage and the graphics are slightly different.
Suzuki Swift Hybrid is powered by 1.2 L four cylinder petrol engine producing 91 PS and it is also connected to a 10 kW electric motor. The Swift hybrid can run only on electric power for short distance and under low load conditions. The power is sent to front wheels via 5 speed AMT transmission.

The Swift hybrid model comes standard with laser and cameras for pedestrian detection along with airbags, ABS and EBD. The Japanese manufacturer has given dual sensor brake support for Swift hybrid.
Suzuki is also offering Swift with SHVS system, which is similar to what Maruti Suzuki is offering in Ciaz and Ertiga. The Swift also comes with 1.0 L boosterjet and 1.2 L K-Series engines in Indonesia. In India, Maruti Suzuki offers two engine options for Swift. The 1.2 L K-Series engine puts out 82 bhp and 113 Nm of torque. The 1.3 L DDis engine produces 74 bhp and 190 Nm. These engines are mated to 5 speed manual and AMT gearbox.
The new generation Swift is the best selling hatchback in its segment and the company has already received more than one lakh bookings.
