The new Nissan Kicks boasts an exterior design inspired by high-end sneakers and it gets AWD for the first time

The all-new 2025 Nissan Kicks has made its global debut with a brand new design and a more premium interior. Positioned in the compact crossover segment, the design is said to be inspired by high-end sneakers and it boasts an all-wheel drive system for the first time. It will reach Nissan showrooms later this summer in the United States and Canada with S, SV and SR trim levels and two Premium packages.

It is also claimed to have segment-best ground clearance and cargo space. The new model equipped with AWD features a specialised “Snow” driving mode, designed to optimise performance on slippery surfaces by adjusting both the all-wheel-drive and vehicle dynamic control systems to enhance traction and stability.

Additionally, yaw control mechanisms work to maintain the vehicle’s intended trajectory when navigating corners on snow or ice-covered roads. It has a striking and expressive design language, complemented by a wide stance and sculpted fenders. The lower half is characterised by robust fenders and a distinctive boxy silhouette ensuring ruggedness.

The upper body comes with a sleek and streamlined appearance. Other visual highlights in the new-gen Nissan Kicks are a subtle roof spoiler, and full-width LED tail lamps that span the width of the tailgate, dividing it into two distinct sections. These tail lamps elegantly wrap around into combination lights situated on the flared rear fenders.

Adding a dynamic touch to the design, the rocker panels feature an intricate, three-dimensional shape reminiscent of athletic sneaker soles. The redesigned cabin gives a more cocoon-like sensation with the dashboard featuring twin screens (one for infotainment and the other for instrumentation), and a new flat-bottom steering wheel.

The equipment list also comprises two cup holders, an enclosed storage compartment, bottle holders in the doors, Nissan’s Zero Gravity seating design, touch-capacitive switches to operate the automatic climate control, red-stitched accents, powered panoramic sunroof, six airbags as standard, ADAS technology, wireless device charging pad, Bose 10-speaker audio, etc. As for the performance, a 2.0L inline four-cylinder NA engine develops 141 hp and is paired with Nissan’s Xtronic CVT.
