All-new Maruti Suzuki Alto will be launched soon in the market. It will be different from the international version and bigger in size too
Maruti Suzuki India will launch the all-new Alto in the Indian market soon. The manufacturer replaced the aging WagonR from the Indian market with an all-new model to meet the upcoming Bharat New Vehicle Safety Assessment Program (BNVSAP). The all-new Alto will also see such an update as the current version of the vehicle will not meet the upcoming safety rules.
The all-new Maruti Suzuki Alto is likely to become bigger in size than the current version of the car just like the WagonR. Maruti is likely to use the new HEARTECT platform in the all-new Alto. It is the same platform that underpins Maruti Suzuki cars like the Baleno, Dzire, Swift, Ignis and the Ertiga in the Indian market.
The new-generation platform was earlier expected to underpin only premium cars but Maruti launched the all-new WagonR on the HEARTECT platform, which will now most likely underpin the all-new Alto too. The HEARTECT platform is much lighter in weight but it is made from stronger materials.
The HEARTECT platform will ensure that the new Alto meets the upcoming crash test rules that will be implemented in the Indian market from October 2019. The all-new Alto is also expected to look very different from the model that is available in the Japanese domestic market. The Indian version will get a different grille and different headlamps.
The bigger size is expected due to the HEARTECT platform. Maruti Suzuki has not revealed anything about the engines in the all-new Alto. However, with the platform change, the Alto will become lighter in weight, which will make the vehicle perform much better with the current set of the engines.
Maruti Suzuki is likely to continue with the current set of petrol engine available with the Alto in the all-new version of the vehicle too. The price of the vehicle will increase by a small bit due to the extensive updates on the vehicle.
