Hyundai introduced the Venue back in May and it has set the sales charts on fire so far by posting good numbers
Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) brought in the long-awaited Venue on May 21 and it competes against Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport and Honda WR-V. Previewed through the Carlino concept back in 2016, Hyundai took three years to launch the Venue and it has made a compelling impact in its opening couple of months.
The Venue sold more than 7,000 units in May 2019 while 8,763 units were retailed the following month. In May, the sub-four-metre SUV overtook all of its rivals barring the segment-leading Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. Last month, the Venue was only 108 units behind the Vitara Brezza and it was the closest any vehicle had got to the Brezza since it took over the lead in the segment.
While the five-seater could beat the Vitara Brezza in the coming months, it had already done so within its domestic portfolio. The Venue was the most sold Hyundai in June 2019 as it got the better of mid-size segment dominating Creta by 429 units. It played a huge role in Hyundai registering only 1 per cent negative growth in June 2019 when the whole industry is suffering from volume dip.
The Venue has crossed 33,000 bookings already domestically and is priced aggressively from Rs. 6.50 lakh (ex-showroom). It is powered by 1.0-litre turbocharged GDI petrol engine good enough to produce 120 PS and 172 Nm while the 1.2-litre MPI petrol kicks out 83 PS and 115 Nm and the solo diesel of 1.4-litre engine capacity produces 90 PS and 220 Nm.
The smaller yet more powerful petrol unit in the lineup is paired with the segment-first seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission as optional. All three powertrain choices can be had with a standard manual gearbox.
The key features in the Venue are eight-inch touchscreen HD infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, 3-year complimentary Blue Link connectivity with embedded Vodafone-Idea SIM card, electric sunroof, reverse parking camera, etc.
