Hyundai Exter Review

Hyundai Exter derives power from a 1.2L NA petrol engine kicking out 83 PS and 114 Nm and is mated to a five-speed MT or an AMT

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) introduced the Exter in the domestic market just a week ago and it carries a starting price of Rs. 5.99 lakh (ex-showroom). We got to test drive the micro SUV in Rajasthan and our first impressions are live on our Youtube channel linked below. The five-seater is positioned below the Venue compact SUV as the brand’s most affordable SUV.

It is based on the same platform as the Grand i10 Nios and Aura. The Hyundai Exter has been made available in a total of nine colour schemes (six single-tone and three dual-tone) namely Atlas White, Fiery Red, Ranger Khaki, Starry Night, Titan Grey, Ranger Khaki with black roof, Atlas White with abyss black roof, Cosmic blue with abyss black roof, and Cosmic Blue.

The second largest car producer in the country has garnered well over 15,000 bookings for the Exter and is sold in a total of five variants levels: EX, S, SX, SX (O) and SX (O) Connect. The Exter has a waiting period of up to three months and it derives power from a 1.2L NA petrol engine, developing a maximum power output of 83 PS and 114 Nm of peak torque.

It is paired with a five-speed manual transmission or a five-speed AMT while a CNG variant is also on offer. The MT and CNG trims command a waiting of six to eight weeks while the AMT has it at around 10 to 12 weeks. The Exter competes squarely against Tata Punch along with Citroen C3, entry-level variants of Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger and Maruti Suzuki Ignis.

The Hyundai Exter has a good road presence despite being a sub-four-metre SUV and it measures 3,815 mm in length, 1,710 mm in width and 1,631 mm in height with a wheelbase length of 2,450 mm. The interior is packed with features and six airbags are offered as standard.

The equipment list comprises a touchscreen infotainment system with connectivity tech, an all-digital instrument console, climate control and much more.
