All-New 2018 Ertiga Spotted During Ad Shoot; Looks Absolutely Stylish

The all-new Ertiga is based on lightweight Heartect platform and gets newly developed 1.5-litre petrol engine

The new generation Maruti Suzuki is just around the corner as it is expected to be launched in India by the festive season. It has received a complete makeover on the outside but before entering our domestic market, it will seize the spotlight in Thailand.

Ahead of its entry there, it has been sighted during an ad shoot courtesy of a Headlightmag forum member. Visually, it looks like no other Ertiga that has been up on sale, as it has increased dimensions compared to the outgoing model. It sits on a brand new lightweight Heartect platform that provides a stiffer body.

Powering the all-new Ertiga on Thai soil is the new 1.5-litre four-cylinder K15B petrol engine that is good enough to produce a maximum power output of 104.7 PS at 6,000 rpm and 138 Nm of peak torque delivered at 4,400 rpm. It is the same unit that is more likely to replace the existing 1.4-litre petrol motor.

It is mated to a five-speed manual transmission while a four-speed automatic comes as optional in Thailand. The new platform allows for better interior space as the new Ertiga is longer, taller and wider than the outgoing model. It measures 4,395 mm in length, 1,735 mm in width and has height of 1,690 mm with 2,740 mm wheelbase.

However, the ground clearance gets decreased by 5 mm at 180 mm and the boot space of by 32 litres at 153 litres compared to the existing Ertiga sold in India. When the third row seat is folded, the luggage capacity moves up to 803 litres. The interior is more upmarket with added features for safety and convenience.

The Thai-spec Ertiga is produced at Cikarang plant in Indonesia and it boasts features like 6.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, two-tone seat upholstery, projector headlamps, LED rear combination lamps, flat-bottom steering wheel, new instrument panel, dual airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child mounts, rear parking sensor, ESP, etc.

The seven-seater currently costs between Rs. 6.74 lakh and Rs. 10.92 lakh (ex-showroom) in 12 different variants. With an overhauled exterior and interior, it will face off more premium rivals and the range-topping variants could be expanded further to appeal for increased number of customers.
