Hyundai launched the Venue from Rs.6.49 Lakh and it has already received tremendous booking response among customers
The sub-four-metre SUV segment has been growing vastly in the last two to three years. The early benchmark set by Ford EcoSport spurred up the competition as more manufacturers came in with little notice. The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza has been a runaway success and it toppled the dominance of EcoSport in no time as the segment’s potential was expanded.
This led to Tata Motors bringing in the Nexon in September 2017 while Mahindra’s resiliency has resulted in yet another sub-four-metre SUV but this time with a more modern attitude. The Nexon made a steady start to its life before beginning to average around 4,500-5,000 units every month and taking the second position in sales for granted.
However, Mahindra XUV300’s initial months have proved how competitive a product it can be. In April 2019, the XUV300 went as far as beating Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport and Honda WR-V but its consistency has to be waited and seen. On the same context, it is safe to say that the competition is getting bunched up as Hyundai will be trying to make its mark with the Venue.
The subcompact SUV has already received an overwhelming booking response and launched Early this month priced from just Rs.6.49 Lakh. Hyundai announced its intentions to enter the segment way back in 2016 by showcasing the Carlino concept. However, the production model did not come into fruition until the 2019 New York International Auto Show as the global SUV was displayed to the world as well as Indian media on the same day.
The good reception on Mahindra XUV300 and the impending arrival of the Hyundai Venue has prompted discounts on their rivals. The Vitara Brezza gets Rs. 15,000 cash, Rs. 15,000 exchange bonus and Rs. 3,000 corporate discounts while the EcoSport offers up to Rs. 45,000, Nexon up to Rs. 38,000, TUV300 up to Rs. 78,000 and WR-V with first-year comprehensive insurance and Rs. 15,000 exchange bonus this month.
It will interesting to see how the Hyundai Venue stacks up against competitors in the coming months as around 8,000-9,000 unit sales are reportedly targetted every month in its first year.
