7 All-New Compact Cars That Are Launching Soon In India

The compact car space will see plenty of action over the next year or so and here we have explained about all the upcoming launches

The compact car segment will witness the arrival of a host of new models over the next twelve months and here we have covered all the necessary details about the upcoming launches:

1. MG Comet:

The compact two-door city runaround will be launched by the middle of this year in India. Expected to have its prices start from Rs. 10 lakh, the MG Comet is based on Wuling Air EV. Despite the small footprint, it will have a claimed driving range of around 300 km courtesy of the 20-25 kWh battery pack that will be employed.

2. Maruti Suzuki Fronx:

The Maruti Suzuki Fronx will go on sale sometime next month and it will be sold exclusively through Nexa dealerships. The display vehicles have already been dispatched to showrooms across the country. The compact SUV coupe will be powered by a 1.2L NA petrol and a 1.0L turbo petrol engine with manual and automatic transmission options.

3. Maruti Suzuki Jimny:

The production of the Maruti Suzuki Jimny will commence next month in India ahead of its market launch by May or June 2023. The five-door lifestyle off-road SUV will be more spacious than the global three-door model. It will derive power from a 1.5L K15B petrol engine, paired with a five-speed MT or a four-speed AT transferring power to all four wheels as standard.

4. Hyundai Micro SUV:

Hyundai has already been caught testing a micro SUV that will sit below the Venue. It will more likely make its global debut later this year before going on sale in markets like India. It will be underpinned by the same platform as the Grand i10 Nios and will be equipped with a familiar 1.2L NA petrol engine with MT and AMT options to take on Tata Punch.

5. Next-Gen Maruti Suzuki Swift:

The next generation Maruti Suzuki Swift will undergo evolutionary exterior and interior changes and it will be more upmarket than the outgoing model. It will continue to be based on the Heartect platform and reports suggest that it will use a brand new 1.2L strong hybrid petrol engine, capable of a claimed fuel efficiency of 35-40 kmpl.

6. Next-Gen Maruti Suzuki Dzire:

In a similar fashion to the Swift, the Dzire compact sedan will undergo big revisions inside and out and the new 1.2L strong hybrid petrol engine will also be available with it. Both models are expected to launch sometime next year.

7. Toyota SUV Coupe:

The Maruti Suzuki Fronx will give rise to a compact SUV coupe for Toyota and it could be dubbed the Taisor. The five-seater will likely take design inspiration from the Yaris Cross but the dimensions, platform, engines and features list will be identical to the Fronx. It is expected to be introduced in the second half of 2023.
