We have provided a list of some newly introduced as well as existing entry-level motorcycles which now get a single channel ABS setup
After the Indian Government gave the ABS deadline of April 2019, almost all the two-wheeler manufacturers have already started providing ABS safety feature on their motorcycles.
We are also happy to report that even the buyers nowadays are also willing to spend some extra amount of cash to get the benefit of added safety. That said, we have provided a list of five of the safest 150 cc motorcycles which now features ABS setup.
1. Honda X-Blade ABS
Price: Rs 87,776 (ex-showroom, Delhi)
Honda has recently introduced the ABS-equipped variant of the X-Blade in India. The motorcycle was first showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo. It shares the same underpinning with the Honda CBR 160R but gets a sharper design language. Just like the new Hornet the X-Blade too gets an all LED headlamp unit as well. The ABS offered on the X-Blade is a single channel unit which you also find in the updated Hornet 160R as well.
The X-Blade is powered by a 162.71 cc single-cylinder engine which makes 13.93 bhp at 8,500 rpm and peak torque of 13.9 Nm at 6,000 rpm. The engine is paired to a 5-speed gearbox. The motorcycle relies on a 276 mm disc brake towards the front and a 130 mm drum brakes for its rear. Honda does not provide a rear disc brake with the X-Blade even as an option. However, this is the entry level Honda motorcycle to gets ABS.
2. Honda CB Hornet 160R ABS
Price: Rs .91,443 (ABS STD), Rs 93,943 (ABS DLX)
There is no denying the fact that the CB Hornet 160R received a significant update for the model year 2018. The updated motorcycle was showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo for the first time. The changes to the model came in the form of a new full LED headlamp and inclusion of a single channel ABS unit.
There are no mechanical changes made to the Hornet 160R and it is still powered by the same162 c, air Cooled, 4 Stroke, BS-IV compliant unit which is capable of producing about 14.9 Bhp of peak power and 14.5 Nm of peak torque. The engine is paired to a 5-speed gearbox. The Hornet relies on a 276 mm disc up front and 130 mm drum brake for braking. However, it also gets a 220 mm disc brake option as well. The motorcycle just like the X-Blade also gets a single channel ABS setup.
3. Hero Xtreme 200R ABS
Price: Rs 89,900 (ex-showroom)
Hero recently launched the Xtreme 200R in India. The Xtreme 200R also happens to be the only motorcycle in the Hero lineup to get ABS setup. Powering the motorcycle is a 199.6, single cylinder, air-cooled engine paired to a five-speed transmission.
This engine is capable of producing about 18.1 bhp of peak power and 17.1 Nm of peak torque. The Xtreme 200R uses a 276 mm disc brake towards the front and a 220 mm disc towards the rear. The motorcycle just like its other rivals also gets a single channel ABS setup for its front wheels.
4. Suzuki Gixxer and Gixxer SF ABS
Price Gixxer: Rs 87,664 (ex-showroom, Delhi), Gixxer SF : Rs 97,007 (ex-showroom, Delhi)
The Suzuki Gixxer is one of the most affordable motorcycles which is on sale in India that features an ABS safety feature. The ABS variant of the Gixxer does not get any other changes to the motorcycle. It is powered by the same 155cc, single cylinder, air-cooled engine which is paired with a five-speed transmission, The engine produces about 14.6 bhp of peak power and 14 Nm of torque. The Gixxer SF, on the other hand, is the faired variant of the Gixxer and it shares all its parts with its sibling including the frame, engine, wheels and tires.
5. Suzuki Intruder ABS
Price: Rs 1,06,896 (ex-showroom, Delhi)
The Suzuki Intruder 150 is the only affordable entry-level cruiser to get ABS setup. The motorcycle uses the same Gixxer platform and shares the engine as well with the other motorcycle. It is powered by the 155cc, air-cooled single cylinder engine that powers the Suzuki Gixxer as well.
The engine is paired with a 5-speed gearbox and produces about 14.6 bhp of peak power and 14 Nm of torque. Prices for the Intruder starts from Rs. 1.00 lakh (Ex-Showroom) and it is a direct rival to the likes of the Bajaj Avenger 180.
6. Bajaj Pulsar NS 200
Price: Rs 1 12,307 (ex-showroom)
We have added the Pulsar NS200 as well in the list because it is a direct rival to the Hero Xtreme 200R. The motorcycle just like its rival gets a single channel ABS unit for its front 300 mm disc while the rear gets a 230 mm disc.
The motorcycle is powered by a 199.5 cc, 4 stroke, SOHC 4-Valve, Liquid Cooled, Triple Spark, BSIV Compliant DTS-i Engine paired with a 6-speed gearbox. This engine produces about 23.5 Bhp of peak power and 18.3 Nm of peak torque which makes it one of the most powerful 200 cc motorcycle available in India after the Duke 200 and the Pulsar RS200.
