BMW G310R MotorradIndian two-wheeler market is growing faster than car market in the country. In terms of sales volume in recent past, two-wheelers are much ahead than cars. Also, Indian customers are showing keen interest toward premium two-wheelers. BMW Motorrad being a globally acclaimed leading premium two-wheeler manufacturer cannot ignore such a huge market. The company is preparing to launch G310R in India, which was showcased at 2016 New Delhi Auto Expo.

BMW G310R is an aggressive and muscular looking bike, which has been designed to turn heads. It sports a V shaped headlamp, an elongated headlamp cowl with a fully digital instrument cluster siting on top. It features a high rising and sculpted fuel tank, and the golden coloured USD front forks simply enhance appeal. Toward rear, the narrow tail section, beefy exhaust muzzle add on zing to the bike.

BMW G310R sports ‘R’ badge on the headlamp cowl and side cowls. The low riding position, flat handle bars, stepped up saddle seats are other design elements the bike features. It takes power from a 313cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, fuel injected engine, which is paired with a 6-speed transmission. This engine kicks out 34 PS of peak power at 9,500 rpm and 28 Nm of peak torque at 7,500 rpm.

BMW Motorrad claims, the G310R will deliver 30.3 kmpl of fuel economy, and top speed for this bike could be 145 kmph. For suspension duty BMW G310R is equipped with USD forks at front, and aluminum swing arm at rear. Braking duty in the bike is done by 300mm disc at the front wheel, while rear wheel features a 240mm disc brake. In international market BMW G310R is offered with ABS, expect the India-spec model to get ABS as option.

BMW G310R runs on 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped with meaty tubeless tyres. Expect the bike to launch in India in first half of 2017, and it could be priced between Rs. 1.8 lakh and Rs. 2 lakh for the non-ABS variant; while the ABS variant could come priced between Rs. 2.5 lakh and Rs. 2.75 lakh. Once launched, it will take on upcoming Bajaj Kratos VS400, Mahindra Mojo, KTM Duke 390.

TVS Apache RTR 300 (TVS Akula 310)

The concept model showcased at the event, had extensive carbon fibre fairing and muscular appearance. Expect the production model to feature less carbon fibre though. Instead it could sport aluminum elements; which will keep the pricing lower compared to carbon fibre. Also, aluminum will keep it lightweight as well.

TVS Akula 310 featured a digital instrument cluster, muscular fuel tank, narrowed tail section, sharp taillight and beefy exhaust muzzle. TVS Akula 310 concept showcased, has been inspired by shark, and in Russian language Akula means shark. Expect the bike to come dubbed as Apache RTR 300, when the production model hits the market. This bike will come aerodynamically efficient, and it will feature a sporty chassis and stiff suspension for aggressive riding dynamics.

Power source for the bike is the same engine as BMW G310R. The German sportsbike takes power from a 313cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, fuel injected engine, mated to a 6-speed transmission; and it churns out 34 PS of peak power at 9,500 rpm and 28 Nm of peak torque at 7,500 rpm. BMW G310R is expected to deliver a fuel economy of 30.3 kmpl of fuel economy, while top speed could be 145 kmph. Expect these facts and figures to be similar for TVS Apache RTR 300 as well.

On suspension front, TVS Apache RTR 300 gets USD front forks and mono shock absorber at rear. Disc brakes at both wheels with dual channel ABS are expected to do braking duty in the bike, and it runs on alloy wheels, wrapped with Pirelli tyres.

Once launched, TVS Apache RTR 300 will take on rivals like Kawasaki Ninja 300, Yamaha R3, KTM RC 390. Expect it to be priced between Rs. 1.8 lakh and Rs. 2 lakh, and it is could launch in India sometime in early 2017.

2017 KTM Duke 390

2017 KTM Duke 390 India2017 KTM Duke 390 looks sharp and aggressive compared to the outgoing model, and it has been spied testing on Indian roads already. The bike made its global debut at 2016 EICMA in Milan earlier this year. The Austrian takes design cues from KTM’s flagship model Super Duke 1290.

2017 KTM Duke features LED headlamp, which appears in vertically split manner. A fully digital instrument cluster sits on top of headlamp cowl, while a very muscular fuel tank gives the bike a sculpted look, and it also has sharp extended fairings at both sides. Rear of the bike is also revised, and it appears narrower and sharper compared to outgoing mode, and apart from that, it also features a revised exhaust system. KTM Duke 390 is painted in the company’s signature orange, black and white colour theme.

Power source for 2017 KTM Duke is the same 373.2cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine retained from outgoing model, but it has been kick out more power and torque output. Mated to a 6-speed transmission, this engine in the outgoing model churns out 44 PS of peak power and 35 Nm of peak torque. Also, the upcoming model complies with Euro 4 emission norm. So far, 2017 KTM Duke 390 has been upgraded to perform with more agility.

For suspension duty, 2017 KTM Duke 390 is equipped with upside down front forks and monoshock absorber at rear. On braking front, this bike is equipped with disc brakes on both wheels, combined with dual channel ABS. 2017 KTM Duke 390 enters production this October, and post global unveiling at 2016 EICMA, it is expected to hit showrooms in India, sometime in early 2017.

2017 KTM Duke 390 is supposed to be manufactured at Bajaj Auto’s Chakan plant for global market. Expect the menacing looking bike to be priced between Rs. 2 lakh and Rs. 2.1 lakh.

Suzuki Gixxer 250

Suzuki Gixxer GSX 250R 4Suzuki Gixxer 250 is expected to hit Indian market sometime in next year, and ahead of that the quarter-litre bike is expected to make its global premiere at 2016 EICMA in Milan, later this year in November. This bike seems to be inspired by its larger sibling GSX-R1000, and it also appears to mimicked several other models in terms of body panels and styling.

The upcoming Suzuki Gixxer 250’s headlamp look like inspired by Hayabusa, and the styling has taken inspiration from Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R. The bike features a sculpted appearance with muscular fuel tank, sporty side fairing, which take design cue from its litre-class sibling. Also the fully digital instrument cluster, split seats, narrowed tail section, LED taillight gives the bike an appealing look. Its vertically stacked twin aperture exhaust canister is inspired by smaller sibling Gixxer 155.

Suzuki Gixxer 250 is based on the single downtube frame borrowed from Gixxer 155. Power source for Suzuki Gixxer 250 is a 248cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine; which is mated to a 6-speed transmission. This engine is expected to churn out 30 PS of peak power and around 25 Nm of peak torque, while its fuel economy is expected to be around 30 kmpl.

On suspension front Suzuki Gixxer 250 is equipped with regular telescopic front fork and monoshock absorber at rear. Both the wheels are expected to get disc brakes, while ABS could be offered as an option. Once launched, the Suzuki Gixxer 250 will lock horn with rivals like Honda CBR250R, Mahindra Mojo, KTM RC 200.

Expect the Suzuki Gixxer 250 to go on sale in India from early 2017 onwards, and pricing of this bike could be between Rs. 1.7 lakh and Rs. 1.9 lakh. Expect the Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer to assemble this bike in India to keep its pricing aggressive.
