In the list of upcoming MPVs, models from Maruti Suzuki, Kia, Toyota and Nissan have features and here we bring you all the known details

It must be noted that the MPV segment has been on the rise lately and some of the recent products such as the Toyota Innova Hycross and Kia Carens have been well-received by buyers. Over the next year or so, we will see plenty of activity in what can be considered the revival phase for the MPV class and here are the ones that will make it happen:

1. 2023 Toyota Innova Crysta:

The bookings for the updated version of the highly popular Innova Crysta have already commenced officially and the pictures were released a few days ago. It gets a redesigned front fascia with a new grille section and an updated bumper with new fog lamp housings. Elsewhere though, no exterior changes have been made. It is available only with a 2.4L diesel engine and five-speed MT combination and the prices will be announced in the coming weeks.

2. Nissan MPV Based On Triber:

Reports emerged on the interweb indicate that Nissan will introduce an entry-level MPV based on the Renault Triber in the domestic market in the near future. It will be based on the CMF-A+ platform and will be mechanically similar to the Triber.

3. Maruti Suzuki C-MPV:

The upcoming C-segment MPV from Maruti Suzuki will be based on the Toyota Innova Hycross. It will be underpinned by the TNGA-C architecture and will derive power from a 2.0L petrol and a 2.0L strong hybrid petrol engine. Expect the exterior to take design inspiration from the Grand Vitara and the interior will have several commonalities with the Hycross. It will more likely launch later this year or in early 2024.

4. Toyota Ertiga-Based MPV

Toyota sells the rebadged version of the Ertiga dubbed the Rumion in markets like South Africa. As for India though, the MPV could undergo more than just badge-swapping changes and it will go on sale sometime this year. It will use the familiar 1.5L four-pot mild-hybrid petrol engine.

5. New-Gen Kia Carnival:

Kia showcased the KA4 concept that spawned the latest generation Carnival sold globally at the 2023 Auto Expo last month. We do expect the new-gen Carnival to reach India in the near future with a redesigned exterior and interior and a more advanced features list. However, the existing 2.2-litre diesel engine could be carried over.
