Honda launched the new generation CR-V in India this October and it comes with a host of new changes

Honda launched the fifth generation CR-V in India recently with prices starting at Rs. 28.15 lakhs (ex-showroom). Honda realized that if they want to survive in the competitive market like India they need to add a diesel engine to their flagship SUV.

As a result, the new CR-V gets a diesel engine under the hood for the first time alongside their existing petrol engine. There are many new features which too was added to the new SUV as well. That said, here are 5 things that you should know about new 2018 Honda CR-V SUV.

1. The new CR-V has grown bigger

The new CR-V is actually bigger in dimension than its predecessor. The fifth generation vehicle is longer than the previous generation SUV by almost 47 mm while its wheelbase too has increased by almost 40 mm. As a result of that change, the new SUV now provides more space inside the cabin and especially for the second-row passengers. The new CR-V measures 4592 mm in length, while it is 1855 mm wide and has a wheelbase of 2660 mm.

Like we already mentioned earlier Honda has added a new diesel engine under the hood of the new CR-V. The SUV gets a new 1.6 Liter, 4 cylinder i-DTEC unit which is capable of producing about 118 bhp of peak power at 4,000 rpm and 300 Nm of peak torque at 2,000 rpm. The engine is paired with a new 9-speed automatic transmission.

3. All-wheel drive available only with a diesel engine

Surprisingly, Honda has decided to provide an all-wheel drive variant only with the diesel engine which obviously generates more torque. Unfortunately, Honda has not provided a manual transmission with any of their drivetrains. The diesel engine gets paired to a 9-speed automatic transmission and the all-wheel drive is available only on the top end diesel variant only.
