2023 RE Continental GT 650 gets new colour schemes and new cast alloy wheels with tubeless tyres amongst other new features

Royal Enfield is an iconic brand within the motorcycle community and it has introduced the updated 2023 Continental GT 650. It has really grabbed a few eyeballs in terms of the changes:

1. Design

While the purists would definitely like a bit of time to get used to this rather modern design language on an otherwise retroesque product, the modern flair is introduced to appeal to the urban audience. Up front, the Continental GT 650 gets an LED headlamp for the very first time borrowed from the Super Meteor 650 and the premium feeling switchgear is borrowed from the Hunter 350. It still retains the analogue speedometer and tachometer but exudes a lot of modernity. It also gets a USB charger on the left switchgear.

2. Colour options

Apart from the usual visual changes, a striking change has been made in terms of the colour schemes offered. The Continental GT 650 is now being offered in 6 colour schemes – Mr Clean, Dux Deluxe, Rocker Red, British Racing Green and two new blacked-out options in Alex Gray and Slipstream Blue. Talk about racing!

3. Engine

The engine still remains the same 648cc, oil-cooled, parallel-twin engine which produces 47PS of peak power and 52Nm of peak torque and is paired with a 6-speed transmission.

4. Dynamics

Nothing much has changed in terms of suspension and brakes apart from the introduction of the biggest and probably the most awaited change, the alloy wheels and tubeless tyres for both the Continental GT and the Interceptor 650. The Continental GT 650 ditches the Ceat tyres and now comes with Vredestein Centauro ST tyres which are 18-inchers. The GT 650 has gained 2 kilos and now tips the scales at 214 Kg.

5. Price

The 2023 Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 has received a hike ranging from INR 13,300-15,000 and the range now starts at INR 3.19 lakhs and tops out at INR 3.45 lakhs (all prices, ex-showroom) for the Mr Clean colour scheme.

Royal Enfield has infused the Continental GT 650 with a modern exuberance while trying to retain its overall retro charm. Is it another winner in the bag for Royal Enfield? Time will tell.
